Hi Everyone,WOW!!! What a year!! First of all, Professor Moin Saleem & the Research Team & I would like to say a VERY BIG THANKYOU for your AMAZING fundraising and support this past year!!!! NeST recently gave the team £50,000 for Nephrotic Syndrome Research, plus I set aside £15,000 for other projects for extra support for team!!! Moin and the team are thrilled!!! Very exciting research studies published over the summer, which can be found on our research pages on our website. I've requested another research update which I hope to share with you early in the New Year.
A new NeST website was built for just over 5K,alot cheaper than adding pages to our previous site at 1K a page! Thankyou again to all those contributed to its pages, your hard work was much appreciated indeed! I'm very pleased with the website, alot more information on it and we hope to improve upon it further in the next coming months. If anyone has any more ideas, just let me know please.
We were awarded a grant from Zurich Insurance so our young NeST ambassdors could go on a short break away to center parcs. They had a wonderful time ,so grateful to 'Zurich Community Trust'!
NeST was successfully awarded a grant from the 'Wellcome Trust' with lots of help from Polly Moseley of over £79,000 to develop an Nephrotic Syndrome App and roadshows over 18 months around the UK with the help of our NeST young ambassadors. Next roadshow at Bristol labs on 'World Kidney Day' on 12th of March.
Our annual patient day in May at Nottingham playhouse hosted with the lovely Nottingham Renal Team was a great success. It was lovely to meet up with you all again and meet new members too. The previous evening our community support group leads meet up with Professor Moin Saleem,Dr Gavin Welsh & Maryam Afzal and I for a meal, kindly paid for by the research team as a thankyou for all our hard work. It was a great gathering and a very special evening! Since that night community group leads have been giving me more ideas to help our fundraising effort, but also how to raise awareness of Nephrotic Syndrome & NeST. One idea currently in progress being developed by Manchester admins,Manchester support group members and Manchester Pediatric Renal team is a pack to give out to those who are newly diagnosed. Once theirs has been developed, then my hope is to roll this out with other support groups and renal teams with lots of help from you guys too please!
Our thoughts & prayers to all those in hospital at the moment. I hope you get to escape soon! Also, wrapping lots of BIG HUGS & prayers around our friends here who have lost children and loved ones to Nephrotic Syndrome. They won't be forgotten, you are in our hearts! Their families fight on with us to find cures/new treatments for NS,amazing love for sure -thinking particularly of Charlie and Amora & their families! And of course Jonah Lomu -we fight on,we won't give up until the job's done!! God Bless you ALL!!
Thankyou SO SO much everyone for all your wonderful hard work fundraising, please keep it going, the research team are working incredibly hard to find new treatments for all types of NS!!!! Thankyou to all support group leads and all of you reaching out to one another on this page, your love, care and support means alot, most touching to see!!
From the NeST Team & The Research Team we wish you ALL a Merry Christmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year!!! Lots Of Love & God Bless! Wendy XXX
