NeST Director Wendy Cook Awarded MBE in King’s Honours 2025

Saturday, June 14, 2025

Marking 20 years of tireless support for families facing nephrotic syndrome.

From Hospital Ward to National Voice – NeST Celebrates MBE Honour

In 2004, a chance hospital conversation between founder NeST David Yearsley and Dr Moin Saleem (now professor) in Birmingham, led to something extraordinary. In 2005 NeST was born in Bristol to support families affected by nephrotic syndrome, raise funds for research and awareness of the disease. Now in 2025, our CEO Wendy Cook has been awarded an MBE in recognition of two decades of compassion, advocacy, and national impact. This honour belongs to every family, clinician, researcher, supporter and friend who’s joined the NeST journey. Thank you for helping us grow a national voice from local roots.

As we celebrate NeST's 20th birthday in 2025 which is a great achievement, and can say we have reached all parts of the UK now, we celebrate NeST's impact and service, in having a special birthday celebration day open to all on July 30th, 10am-4pm in Bristol.

All are welcome, but numbers are limited so please register soon(see website or Facebook). A rare tour of the labs will be available and rarely people can meet the researchers and they you. This celebration will not follow the normal patient day format please note. It is necessary to have it on a weekday and in July to be able to visit the labs and have the meeting room.

With very best wishes

Wendy
